A small CPA office that has been doing Indianapolis taxes since 1998
Montgomery Tax & Accounting Services is two people: a Certified Public Accountant with more than 30 years of experience and an assistant who keeps the paperwork moving. That's it, on purpose.
“The person who prepares your return should be the one who picks up the phone when the IRS writes back.”
Why we stayed small
Bigger firms hand returns to seasonal staff and route questions through whoever is free. We never built it that way. Our founder, Chris Montgomery, CPA, reviews every return that leaves the office. His assistant knows your file, so a phone call doesn't start from zero.
Chris trained at Indiana University and holds an MBA. He has spent more than 30 years as a CPA, most of it working with individuals, families, retirees and small business owners rather than large corporations. That's still the work we do best.
Being small also means we're here in July. We take new clients in every month and spend the months after April on extensions, IRS letters, unfiled years and planning for the next return.

Today
Suite 114, Broad Ripple Executive Offices
We moved to 1111 E 54th St in Broad Ripple. Clients drop off documents at the office or work with us entirely remotely.
How we work with you
The same three commitments whether you file one W-2 or run a partnership.
We quote your return once we know what's in it, so the bill is never a surprise in April.
No seasonal preparers. A Certified Public Accountant reviews and signs every return we file.
If a deduction won't hold up, we'll tell you. If the IRS notice is wrong, we'll tell you that too, and answer it.
You might know Chris from the Euchre table
Chris plays in local Euchre leagues around Broad Ripple. Good Euchre players keep track of every card that's been played, know when to lead trump and never take their partner's trick by accident.
That's close to how we think about a tax return. Track every document, know the rules better than the other side of the table, and make sure nothing you and your spouse report works against each other.
